The building and operation of any of our 244 known Twins
had to have been a huge challenge. Now add to this, for whatever their reasons, the use of two different engines.
As with all Twins, some were more successful, most note
worthy would have to be the Bustle Bomb which became the first piston engined dragster to exceed 150 MPH in
the quarter mile. Mickey Thompson, mostly remembered
for his use of Pontiac power, made use of GM's new all
aluminum V8's when he dared to be different. They were
available as either a Buick or an Oldsmobile, no Pontiac.
Mickey chose to use one of each. Don Ewald's " We Did It For Love " website contributed
our last entry which needs to be identified.
